Calif. Senate voting Tuesday 4-19 on speed cameras - $400 tickets by mail !

Next Tuesday April 19, 2005 the California Senate committee on
Transportation will vote on SB 466 (Kuehl), which will legalize the use
of automated speeding enforcement by cameras in vans parked by the side
of the road.

The tickets will come in the mail, and while the bill doesn't say what
the they will cost you, I predict it will be $400 to $450.

Part of that sky-high cost will be caused by SB 57 (Alarcon), which will
add 40% to the base fine.  It is coming to a different committee, on the
same day.

More like $150
plus $50 in administrative costs
plus 100% for sacremento
to become $400.
