I'm barely off the plane from my latest trip to the ArkLaTex when I
fall victim to a incompetent and/or MFFY driver. You know the
scenario: I'm in the left lane of a double dedicated left turn lane
pocket; a silver vehicle is in the right lane. The green arrow comes
on, and the other driver changes lanes in the middle of the turn,
entering my lane and cutting me off.

I won't mention the driver's gender, because then Skip will accuse me
of being a misogynist.

I won't mention the driver's ethnicity, because then someone else will
call me racist.

I won't mention what type of vehicle it was, lest somebody accuse me
of being anti-SUV.

I visited southern california last summer after leaving the place fifteen years
ago.   The highways nowadays are nearly worthless.  Driving to holywood (not
"rushhour", around 1pm) was like it was getting in line for a ride at universal
studios.  Get in line; don't expect to get anywhere quickly;  enjoy the scenery
at 5-15mph the whole way.

The "california lane change" I experienced 15 years was
1) turn on signal, more of a "f.ck you" gesture.
2) "close eyes"
3) slowly drift into lane of choice.

It was mostly unchanged last summer, although I can now name a lot of worse
places to drive, all urban.  Albuquerque is probably the worst.  Extreme
hostility when there's just no reason for it.
