Observed from my shuttle bus window yesterday morning:

A white Scion Xa, with a young 20something female behind the wheel,
pulls up next to the bus. This chick is hip - she has a Blackberry
perched on the center of her sterring wheel; her right thumb is busily
hunting-and-pecking out a vitally important text message while she
drives at 40 MPH on a 50 MPH road.

People die every day because they took their eyes off the road just
long enough to dial a 7 digit phone number; imagine what can happen
when you're typing entire conversations?!?!

Here's hoping she buys it before she manages to reproduce...

You just don't get it, slower is the same as safer, that is what she
was taught, and it is reinforced constantly. So she must be safe if
she is driving ten under, even if she is multi-tasking while driving.

May God preserve us from the speed limit fascists.
