Is This Lighting Stock?

I saw a Mercedes C230 Turbo this evening which appeared to be equipped
with high-intensity strobe lights for its "flash to pass" lights. The
pulses of light that came from this car seemed to be too quick and
precisely regular to have been the result of the driver simplly
flicking the lever manually. One thing I'm sure of: it's VERY
attention-getting.

Is this a stock feature? Or just another customization a la the blue
headlight bulbs and the neon lights that mount underneath the car?

Kinda like cop car lights?

Kinda, but not behind the grille - these were the regular headlight
bulbs. The car was behind me, so I caught the flashes in my peripheral
vision (via the rear view mirrors). By the time I turned my head, the
headlight bulb was dimming from the last flash.

It has lots of nice chase scenes in it.

Yep, and the one I'm thinking of has them running at speed against
traffic, both cars involved flashing their brights like strobes.

The movie that finally beat the standard set by "Bullitt" for car chase
scenes.  Assuming that you're into movies with little to no plot, but
lots of car chases, people shooting at each other, and sh.t blowing up,
it's f*cking great.  And I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I have
it on DVD :)
