Hey gang, I got a problem with my Mitsu galant 95.
My speedometer doesn't move, it stays on 0 and the car seems to be
driving fine.
Also, my left turn signal keeps on blinking, (even when I turn on the
right signal, the left stays on and the right does NOT come on) and
only on hazard do both signals work.
Any help woudl be appreciated
Thanks all

Start by checking fuses; it sounds electrical.  Also near the fuse box
there should be a flasher module (about the size of a stack of 6
quarters); a replacement should run you about $2.  That may solve the
lights.

I'm not sure about the speedometer since you didn't specify whether it
is needle or digital type, but the cable may be either disconnected or
bad.  The end connecting to the speedometer in most cars is easy to
reach from below the dash; the other end normally is connected at the
transmission.  I had to replace one in a 1989 LeMans.

This is based solely on my experience; but I've never run a Mitsu
myself, so the rice burner may have something of a different nature
wrong.

Good luck.

OK, I've got the electrical diagram of that specific vehicle in front of me.
Your second symptom makes perfect sense if the column switch (turn signal
switch) in your steering column is stuck in (left turn) position.  That is
the last active component before the bulbs themselves.  Also, from reviewing
the electrical diagram, the hazard switch will bypass the column switch and
send current (from the hazard/turn signal flasher unit) directly to the
bulbs.

Basically, I'm telling you that you have a broken column switch, and that's
not a guess.  If the symptom is exactly as you described it, you need to
replace the turn signal switch in the steering column.  If you are not
afraid to tear the steering column apart, you might find one in a junkyard
that you can throw in there for next to nothing.  According to the manual,
the symptom could ALSO be caused by a bad connection on the hazard switch in
the dashboard.  It's more likely that the column switch has just worn out,
though.

For the speedometer, try reseating the connection for the vehicle speed
sensor.  The vehicle speed sensor is physically located directly under the
air filter, in the engine compartment.  It sticks up vertically, pointing at
the air filter.  Also check the wires sticking up off the top of the
connector to make sure they aren't broken.  -Dave
