VA psychiatrist charged in road-rage gunfire
Tenn. doctor accused of firing gunshots at van carrying children

Updated: 3:55 p.m. MT Aug 21, 2006

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A Veterans Administration psychiatrist charged
with firing gunshots at a van carrying children told the officer who
stopped him that it was an act of road rage, authorities said.

Dr. Alex Abelardo Fider, a psychiatrist at the VA hospital in
Murfreesboro, was charged with aggravated assault. He was released on
a $10,000 bond Monday.

A Nissan Quest carrying an adult and two 11-year-olds was exiting
Interstate 24 on Sunday when three shots were fired from a Dodge
Caravan, Tennessee Department of Safety spokeswoman Julie Oaks said.
At least one round hit the Nissan, she added.

She said the Nissan’s driver returned to the interstate to follow the
Dodge and called the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The trooper who stopped
the Dodge near Kimball reported finding three spent shell casings in
the glove box and a pistol under the passenger seat, Oaks said.

The arrest report said Fider, a passenger in the van, told the trooper
the shooting was an act of road rage, Oaks said.

Fider, scheduled to appear in court Sept. 12, did not immediately
return a message left for him at the hospital Monday

HUH?? Now why would the guy save the shell casings instead of tossing
them out the window?

Uh, maybe because a guy that shoots at a van full of kids isn't exactly
full of rational thought.

Kinda like a nutcase who tosses marbles out of his window on the
freeway.

Which only means there's more than 1 nutcase around, which isn't
surprising.

Mmm, and what about the other people on the road behind you that aren't
tailgating you?

I guess that gives them the right to blow your head off.  After all,
everyone has a right to self-defense.

Judy isn't capable of thinking that far ahead (or behind, as the case
may be).  He is just a deadly killer with his accident-causing marbles.

You might as well say "A man has no right to shoot the guy raping his
daughter cause a stray bullet might hit an innocent bystander."

And if that stray bullet does in fact hit someone else, he will be
held to account for it.
You have the responsibility for all your actions, even if you don't
think so.

As usual, you can't think logically. Of course you will be held
accountable for the stray bullet that hits the innocent.  But you
still have the right to shoot the rapist.  THINK

Given the last scenario you gave...and this becoming a police
state...cops don't like competition for the chance to shoot rapists.
They say you should not take the law into your own hands (remember the
Wapner court program).  However, your sentence in that case would be
less than if the rapist were innocent.  Yep, I did think this time.
Did you?

As opposed to you, I do think.
I have several firearms, and have taken rather good training in the
proper handling and shooting of same.
If I do have the right to shoot a rapist, I also have the
responsibility to make sure no one else is hurt by my actions.
Get theat nice man in the white jacket to explain responsibility to
you.

Perhaps the shrink is a quack.  Both his license to drive and his
license to practice psychiatry should be discontinued.

He ought to be charged with attempted murder and have his guns taken
away.

How would that prevent him from being a passenger shooting at other
vehicles ?

Shooting ? If you're REALLY a psycho bent on causing
damage you just toss out a couple quarts of oil near
  a curve during rush-hour ... helps if it's a kinda
  rainy day ....

Some people, 'liberals' mostly, seem to think the only
way to cause mayhem is to use a firearm ...

I remember a few years back, some guys cause all kinds
of death and mayhem ... armed only with a few small
  box cutters .....

More likely the cops just planted the shell casings.  That's the point
i was making.  This whole story sounds fishy.

For reloading later.  Maybe he figured that by putting them in the glove
box, cops wouldn't find them and if they did, claim no warrant issued to
search.
I seriously doubt that the shrink will continue his employment with the VA.
What I would like to know is, what caused the guy to shoot? What did the
kids do to piss him off?

Maybe the guy didn't shoot.  Maybe the kids didn't do anything.  This
whole story - like finding the shell casings in the glove compartment
- sounds like a frame job by the cops.  Happens every day.

Easy enough to find out if the cops did a frame job.
With both the gun and a bullet, it's very easy to find if they match.

Hi. This is the meow-send program at usenet. I'm afraid I wasn't able

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

>HUH??? If they planted the shells they planted the gun too.  THINK

Did they plant his fingerprints on the gun and casings, retard?

Yep.  Actually, Judy is posting under both at the moment.  Must want to
start an argument with himself.

HUH???
If they planted the gun, they'd need to come up with some sort of
evidence that the suspect actually owned or (even more critical)
actually fired the gun. THINK!

They "found" the gun under the passenger seat where the alledged
shooter was sitting.  That's all the evidence they need.

You need to get your paranoia under control - and I speak as one who
is actually diagnosed as paranoid.
Your startement also shows a complete lack of understanding of court
procedure.
But I merely state the obvious.
