Seems strange, but is seems that lately I am seeing lots of cars with
the left rear corner dented/bashed in somehow. There doesn't appear to
be any damage anywhere else, just in that corner. Saw 4 cars just today
like that. is the instances of people backing onto trees/poles on the
rise these days?

Perhaps... but I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

Any dent may be made while the driver is absent the vehicle.

My wife had one of those about 20 years ago, and still was responsible
for the collision. Any guesses as to how that could happen? I repeat, she
was not in the car at the time it collided with another car.

Scroll down.

You didn't think, I'd give up the answer that easily, did you? I'll
respond with the full story after this station break.

Parked it and left it in neutral with parking brake off. I saved someone
one day from some expensive body damage. I was walking through a parking
lot one day and this car just starts rolling towards the support
structure of the 'L'. I can see it's not running and nobody is in it. I
run up to it grab hold of it and slow it down and bring it to rest in a
parking place on the opposite side of the driving isle. Had I not been
there the car would have rolled all the way to the 'L' on the then flat
ground just on the momentum it had. Without momentum, it was safe in the
spot I left it in.
