Hi everbody!
How does traction control in an AWD detect if all 4 wheels lost
traction at the same time? Like on ice or sand for example? (In my
situation there is *no* center diff. in the AWD)
Thanks,
Chris.

The ABS kicks in usually.

If it happens fast enough (almost instantaneously), it can't. Traction
control actuation is premised on detecting differences in wheel speed.
If you suddenly lose traction while turning on water, for instance, you
could hit the brakes and lock up all four without actuating the ABS. I
only know this because I've seen it happen. A system that also has yaw
sensors may be harder to fool and it will be actuating the ABS to
counter the yaw.
