Who do you think was doing most of the crashing in that gut-
wrenching sequence; speediots or moderate drivers? Who was
better prepared to stop or steer to safety when they came upon
those _unexpected_ vehicles? A popular term is to "scrub off
speed." The more of it you have, the harder the "scrubbing."
Simple physics that requires no degree.

Does anyone still not know what "unexpected" means? Look at all
the dummies who wouldn't even slow down in that cone-zone where
they know danger lurks. That's why State govts have to run ad
campaigns. These are the SAME smugsters who tell you that
nothing can ever catch them off guard, since they've got the
corner on cool.

It is just common sense not to drive faster than you can see. Lots of
people in that video violated that rule.

But there are also situations where you can see much further and where
the areas to the side of the road are wide open. Do you support driving
faster in those situations, or is that too much for your little brain?

It's too much for his little brain.  Best not to try to engage him, he's
too stupid to carry on an intelligent discussion.  Remember the adage
about wrestling with a pig?

Unfortunately, Carl, you've missed the physical law that two objects
can not occupy the same space at the same time.

Also, unfortunately for you and some other incompetent driver, you
don't realize the best way to reduce the damage from "gut wrenching
crashes" is to avoid them.

Fortunately for me, your ignorance will have no impact on me, if
you'll pardon the pun.

Later, retard. I'm off to work, and to deal with LLBing retards.

After watching the video, I'd say neither group was doing most of the
crashing.  The crashing was done by drivers who were oblivious to everything
more than 10 feet in front of their bumper.  I wouldn't call them speediots
or moderate drivers.  I would however suggest that they shouldn't have a
license.  Every impact I saw in that video was easily avoidable, whether you
were driving the speed limit, or faster.  If you are WATCHING THE ROAD, that
is.  -Dave

The first thing that struck me about this video a year or so back (it's
a remix with some "instant replay" and what I guess are transcripts of
a cell call; for the original, try http://media.putfile.com/Pileup) was
that it all takes place in what any fool can plainly see is a
construction zone, with coned-off lanes on the accident side of the
median and what appear to be worklights on the opposite side.   I don't
know what kind of signage was upstream of all this, but Caltrans is
usually pretty conscientious about advance warning of their
activities...

The version I first saw seemed to be longer and more complete, perhaps
edited to remove the dull stretches.  Those showed even more people
*not* having accidents (in addition to some further subsequent
accidents).  Many of them even avoided the accidents without particular
drama; I would assume t they were the ones who were well "ahead" of the
vehicle and moderating their speed based on what they saw.

I hope the people who had the accident near the right side of the
video, then got out of their vehicles and stood right by them (about
the 1:20 mark in this video), scared themselves during the rest of the
evolution.  Particularly instructive is the  subsequent accident  over
in the #1 lane, in which the blue Mustang that started it all got
walloped, with, I believe, its two occupants still inside.

Everyday idiots not paying attention to the road in front of them. You
know carl, people who drive like you, braindead and unaware.
