A rather interesting ride today....

Went to J-ville to do a little Christmas shopping this afternoon.(Ok,
ok, it was Christmas shopping for me mostly - I rather like the new
widescreen LCD I bought myself, but I am digressing horriblly...)

Anyways the ride down I-95 to J-ville very noteworthy for a few
occurances - or maybe non occurances. First was the distinct lack of
traffic today - a real surprise. Then was the lack of revenue patrols in
Camden County - though I did see one in the SB lanes that had a couple
of hispanic guys out being patted down). But the big surprise of the
trip was the total and complete lack of LLB's (the #1 lane was almost
totally clear all the way to the J-ville city limits) and even the
truckers were all practicing KRETP and what few CLB's there were were
easily dispatched to the rear-view mirrors with a quick pass in the
right lane. Now comes the real shocker: at a cruising speed of ~72MPH to
75MPH (by both speedo and GPS) I was one of the fastest vehicles on the
road today. Kinda had me looking around and wondering WTF was going on:
only 5 over and noone is passing me?

J-ville was its usual self. Traffic, traffic, traffic, but generally
flowing smoothly on the expressways and not so well on the surface
streets (has anyone in this town ever heard of the "Do not block
intersection," law WRT to stop lights??) Made a timing mistake and
finished shopping/dinner right at the 5PM rush hour - OOPS. Now I know
why I like living in the sticks and not the city.

Did encounter one nitwit in the J-ville construction zones that took
cautious driving to an dangerous extreme, riding in the left lane of a
posted 55 zone (most traffic doing about 60) and going between 35 and 45
MPH (guess who was stuck behind her and unable to move to the right lane
for a pass?) except when she reached her exit where she shot across the
right lane straight onto the off ramp with no regard to the cars passing
her on the right. Oh, well, atleast she was out of my way and I quickly
ramped up my speed to about 60 (which the SL increased to about the time
the nitwit did its dale earnhardt impression in exiting the highway) and
commenced to pass several of the cars that had just passed me while I
was stuck behind the LLB.

The drive back was uneventful, just lots of traffic, but it was
generally flowing at about a comfortable 75MPH from the J-ville city
limit to the start of construction in GA (conviently starting just
before my exit).

Heh heh, we get plenty of that stupid crap around here.

Take heart, though, as Ms. Dale most likely will die in her car.
