Hi All,

Q:  What do Ashland KY, an American byway, and the Ohio River have in
common?
(Now Sherman, breathe and exhale slowly into a brown bag...  It has nothing
to do w/ you :-) )

A:  All-of-the-above get represented in the latest update to Pictures of
Highway Shields, a Calrog.com component.  Also included are new photographs
from austral and oriental West Virginia.

http://hwy-shields.calrog.com (Interstate 77, top lefthand column)
http://hwy-shields.calrog.com#us (US Federal Routes 23, 35 and 52)
http://hwy-shields.calrog.com#oh (State Routes 7 and 527)
http://hwy-shields.calrog.com#wv (State Routes 12 and 20)

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Carl Rogers

(I don't know if these corrections will be made since you still haven't
revised your earlier videos with errors.)

OH 527 --
"OH-527 could be the shortest route in southern Ohio, if not the
shortest in the state.  She spans from the sleepy streets of
Chesapeake, to an interstate crossing with West Virginia."

OH 527 spans from OH 7 to the West Virginia state line, where it
becomes WV 527. OH 527 does not extend to an interstate crossing - a
minor nitpick.

US 52 --
"The lefthand exit is for Ashland, a Kentucky bordertown. Its
riverfront area boasts a rather conspicious multi-storied residential
complex."

This is new to me. What 'multi-storied residental complex' would this
be on the river? Because there are none...

This "residential complex" could be the Ashland Plaza Hotel in downtown
Ashland on the river side of US23.  I will try and post pictures of it
and the Ashland Bridge (US60).

No need, my parents live five minutes from Ashland and I was raised all
of my life there. I can describe the buildings like the back of my
hand...

I'm thinking Carl was referring to the hotel. The only other tall
residential building is the former Henry Clay Hotel and Scope Towers...

"Austral" and "oriental" West Virginia?

As in, referring to the foreignness of the state? Or perhaps making
subtle hints towards this "orient" that was developed purely in the
eyes of Westerners in order to fulfil their desire for "diverse"
cultures? Or this forbidden state that one rarely understands because
they are so full of themselves they must utilise incongruous words to
try and convey their point?

And "southern" (or your fancy word: austral) doesn't define photographs
from WV 527: that is western or "metro" as coined.

Let's actually make statements people can understand and at least
comment to.

Or "occidental".

They're all "components" of your web site? :)

If you listen carefully, you can hear Carl's wife scream just prior to the impact.
