Pickering mom ready to forgive driver in fatal crash
A very close family torn apart

Dec 25, 2006
Torstar Network

A suspected drunk in a pickup truck driving the wrong way on the
interstate killed her husband, daughter and son this holiday weekend,
but Angela St-Denis has somehow found it in her heart to forgive him.

"What's the use of staying angry? What's that going to get us?" the
grieving Pickering mother of three said yesterday.

"He's a human being. He made a mistake. All I want now is that he never
get behind the wheel of a car again."

St-Denis's world came to a crashing halt at 3:40 a.m. Saturday near
Bedford, Penn., when the pickup truck entered the four-lane I-99
expressway going the wrong way and crashed head-on into the minivan
carrying the family of five to a long-anticipated Florida vacation.

Police said their minivan was passing a tractor-trailer when a pickup
driven by Jeremy Grimes, 23, travelling north in the southbound passing
lane, slammed into them.

Her husband Roger, 52, daughter Angela, 15, and son Paul, 21, were
declared dead at the scene, some 130 kilometres southeast of
Pittsburgh.

Angela St-Denis, 52, and her 22-year-old daughter, Thérèse, escaped
the horrific wreckage with minor injuries and are now back at home
trying to stitch their lives back together.

You know what, Laura?  You calling this woman names, as you did above,
casts you in more of a negative light than anything said about her.

Grant it, if it was my family, i'd do whatever I could to make the
person's life as miserable as I legally could.  But some people are
better than that and this woman appears to be one of them.

She doesn't deserve to have YOU, or anybody else, calling her names.
What the heck is wrong with you?

This gal is an idiotic criminal coddler or else she's been paid by the
killer to say this so he gets light treatment from the law. Either way
it's inexcusable and you are a psychopath for defending her attitude.

Actually Laura, I think you're coming off as more of a psychopath for
calling the woman names and saying she's been paid off by the killer.

Let's see, within several days, the woman who has lost her entire
family as a result of a possible drunk driver has been approached by
the driver or their family, offered money, and accepted it, just so the
person who killed her family will get a lighter sentence?

is that what you're saying, Laura?

I'm not going to get involved in a flame war with you Laura, but I'll
have no problem sleeping at night with my position on the woman's
behavior.

I mentioned that as a possibility and if the killer is rich, i think it
becomes pretty likely. Have you got a better explanation for why she
said that?? Remember this is america, the most corrupt nation in

Not everyone in the US is a bitter, corrupt "do anything for a buck,"
trailer trash like your self. In fact, the vast majority are not like
you. Begone back to the bathhouse, troll.

'Ya know Laura?  I can't believe that even you would say something like
that.  The woman has lost her family and you believe she can just be
bought off like that, eh?

Do you have a family?  Would you be bought off so easily?  I doubt it.
And 'ya know what?  I'd give you the benefit of the doubt, even after
listening to this garbage from you.

That you would be so downright nasty towards this lady, who's basically

I think forgiving others is a basic tenet of Christianity, though many
forget this. Example: the Amish who forgave the mass murderer who killed
their daughters. Forgiving the man may be part of this woman's religion
as well.

Pat, I believe you're correct in that forgiving is a basic tenet of
Chrstianity.  I also believe you're correct in that this may be where
the lady who lost her family is coming from.

No question, I think I'd have an EXTREMELY difficult time doing the
same thing she's doing.

However, at the same time, if this lady is willing to forgive the
person, I don't believe she deserves to have people like "Laura"

This perspective confuses you because it is derived of rational
thought, and is not an emotional knee-jerk reaction devoid of thought.

I noticed you have resorted to an imaginary conspiracy theory as a
method to resolve your confusion, a common practice among the idiotsia.

As is hollering through multiple groups in a pathetic effort to be
listened to, by virtually -anybody-.  Kook behavior does not lend
credence to what you might relate about what you "think".

L O f.cking L.  Every bit as much that she's a bitch.

But r.a.d. is not the NG that requires any more than that evidence to
form rock-solid conclusions.  If it may be thunk or misconstrued, it is
likely to be found "true".  Facts are irrelevant.  Too inconvenient for
all those conclusion leaps straight to "truth".

Not much you can do in this world to change things but rant on the
internet. I mean since the press is corrupt and the elections are
rigged. Democracy is a hoax and so is free press.

How do you figure this ranting is accomplishing more than government or
the media?  And if the government is too corrupt to expect anything,
how do you propose to cahnge the laws?

What's your strategy?  If you're this worked up, you must have a goal
of some kind.  What's that goal?  What's the plan to get there?

Based on the postings I'd say the only goal is to keep excessive
buildups of venom in the spleen from happening.  It's not about road
safety, it's about finding people to hate.

First we have to get the idiot public to realize the problem. The
mindless sheep have been brainwashed into thinking that   the
microscopic problem of terrorism is more important and more solveable
than the 42,000 highway killings every year!!!!!. Changing that
attitude would do more good than any law.  THINK

So you endeavor to get the public to listen to you by telling them how
dumb they are?  Explain the mechanism here, because I want lives to be
saved and I'm eager to understand how you're hoping to accomplish that.

Pete, I don't normally like to jump in on things like this, but this is
the way Laura really appears to be.  It's not an isolated incident.
Every once in a while, I imagine I'll see a post from her that might
just make some sense, but then she'll go and pull the same thing she
has in the most recent posts in this particular thread - calling
everybody that doesn't agree with her names, and telling them to
"THINK".

I will say that her original posting in this thread struck me as
exceptionally vicious.  Particularly when you consider she was talking
about a woman who had lost her entire family to a probable drunk
driver.

You're right.  I just wonder what happens if you ask reasonable
questions of him/her/it.  The answer is, it moves on to another
discussion and ignores them.

It all reminds me of two things -- first, of the faux vitriol of, say,
Stephen Colbert, and similar satirists, who rail on apoplectic with
such consistent venom so regularly that it's the absurdity that's the
real message, and Serdar Argic, the argue-bot that fought legendary
pointless battles over the history of the genocide of the Armenians on
the internet back in the early 90s, automatically sending out
pre-written replies whenever certain terms came up on Usenet.

So do we have a satirist, or a bot on our hands?  Because this one
doesn't display any of the methodologies one would attribute to
activists (tactics leading toward accomplishing some kind of goal).

The average ADULT (which explains why you can't figure this out)
realizes that automobile accidents are managed from within, unlike
terrorism. In that regard, the only people who die or are injured in
automobile accidents are incompetent, and if they don't die in an
