I went to Gerald Ford's Funeral services today in Palm Desert CA.  It
was a closed Casket and the military was their.  Army, Navy, Airforce,
Coast Guard, and Marines.  They were busing people to St. Margarets
Episcopalian church.  It was a very sad experience.  The wait in line
was an hour and a half long and we were some of the first ones to
arrive.

One of the things that I noticed along I10 and Highway 60 was that the
roads are seriously flawed.  It's better to have the least amount of
merge lanes as possible.  Additionaly the civil engineers didn't keep
into account the whole "hour glass effect" that takes place when a
length of highway is busy to begin with, but then all those cars have
to funnel in even closer as the highway thins out and you have less
lanes to work with.  If the counties can make it uniform and not make a
10 lane highway merge into a 6 lane highway than we would all be
light-years ahead.  Plus the signage was all terrible.  The exits were
poorly marked.  And the Exit signs were in the worst locations.  There
was a broken down truck and travel trailer physically BLOCKING the exit
sign so nobody would have been able to see the exit.  If they were
unfamiliar with the area they would have all missed it.

Take care of the above problems.  Spend the extra $$$ and we would all
be light-years ahead.
