My Texas observation, in general...for the most part, drivers in Texas
go quite fast, but not in a stupid manner.  I did see one exception: in
Fort Worth some goofball on a motorcycle passed me (I was doing 60 in a
60) riding in wheelie mode at probably 70-75!  Apparent Darwin bait if
you ask me.

You just contradicted yourself.

Fairly painless, as usual.  Unlike one claim of the contradiction
(obviously Aunt Judy is not from Texas), the faster drivers are usually
only going maybe 10 to 15 above posted, and not weaving much (hence my
"not in a stupid manner" comment).  I'm in the process of getting the
photos together for the site for the convenience of the r.a.d and m.t.r
folks.  It made me glad I had a Jeep: I was able to drive to the mouth
of the Rio Grande.  4HI, 10-20 mph on the greasy skid stuff, no
problemo!  I didn't quite have the nerve to use my Jeep as a Rio Grande
depth gauge despite rumors of wading depth due to silt accumulation.

I'm just guessing you've never been to Houston.

AAMOF, drove it once, about 10 years ago, in a rain shower.  I stayed
on I-10 (aka IH10) the entire time as it was enroute from San Antonio
to Pensacola.  I didn't recall any problems, but then the arrival time
in Houston was not likely a peak traffic time.  The majority of my
Texas trips involved DFW and San Antonio.
