Since some states have them (front plates) and some states don't, wouldn't you think by now it would be clear to everyone that front plates are not needed? You know that if there was a correlation between having a front plate and "better" law enforcement of some sort, the cops would have done the study and been all over the issue because they are the ones who always bleat about how things will go to hell if the front plates are dropped. Some violation cameras are in front to catch a view of the driver, or other reasons. The front plates seem to be there for automated number plate scanning these days. Of course, cars from a certain region of Mexico have license plate that say: FRONT BC and they put these plates on the back of the car. License plates are retroreflective. Requiring front plates gives them something to reflect laser speed guns off of.
