Police: Thieves Target Catalytic Converters

POSTED: 6:17 pm CST January 30, 2007

Arlington, TEXAS -- Arlington police said they’ve seen a recent rise in
catalytic converter thefts from cars.

Police said they have already had six incidents of catalytic converter --
an exhaust component -- thefts in Arlington so far this month. In each of
those six cases, thieves stole from Honda Elements.

Catalytic converters contain a precious metal, which is why thieves are
targeting them, police said. They cost up to $1,000 to replace.

Arlington police asked the public to contact them if they see any
suspicious activity near a Honda Element.

Let me guess.  You think converters are an auto industry conspiracy,
and you ripped yours off your vehicle years ago.

Honda Element converters;hmm....I wonder if they are high flow cats that
"tuners" might want for their Civics,Preludes, and Integras??

I have an Integra GSR;thieves target the entire car.

It used to be air bags that were "targeted"....

It's going on up here too (Spokane Wa) according to yesterday's
paper.  The price of scrap metal is way up and they are taking them
for the salvage value.  No mention if any particular make is being
targeted.  I suspect that the thieves might target cars that are
easiest to get the converter out.

Everything is a auto industry conspiracy to that fruitcake. Even the
price of a loaf of bread.

Dunno if SFB would get away with that. Doesn't CO do smog checks?

Eeeyup - in fact everything is a conspiracy. Idiots like you are so
hilarious with your stupid comments like "Oh no - corporations would never
rip anyone off. All they want to do is help people."

It must be quite a day for you, walking around thinking everybody is
out to get you.  Here's a clue:  Nobody gives a sh.t about you.
