Driver in fatal Oswego crash charged
Five injured in accident; driver charged with DUI

February 11, 2007
By MATT HANLEY Christine Moyer and Andre Salles Staff Writers

OSWEGO — Four Oswego teenagers died and five other people were injured
Sunday when a car struck a utility pole on Route 31 north of Route 34 .

Eight of the nine victims attended Oswego High School, and alcohol likely
contributed to the crash, police said.

All nine people were riding in a four-door sedan when the accident
occurred at 2:20 a.m., said Oswego Police Detective Rob Sherwood. The
speed limit in that area of Route 31 is 45 mph.

Vasquez, 23, the driver of the car, has been charged with drunken
driving. Other charges are likely, Oswego police said.

Jim Detzler, deputy Kendall County coroner, said when he arrived at the
crash scene at 4:15 a.m., none of the people in the car were wearing seat
belts. He said the four victims pronounced dead at the scene died from
blunt force trauma.

"It seems like a case of driving too fast too late at night," Detzler
said. "Just a tragic accident."

Yes, driving too late at night is the cause of many accidents, even
during the daytime.

Anyway, SADDAM, why do you think the driver is Mexican?

There is no mention of the driver
being "Mexican".  Lying doesn't
get anyone anywhere..Try the truth
please.

I think she's an American.  You see, unlike you, I don't assume everyone
who has darker skin or has a Spanish name is Mexican.

Try it sometime yourself.

It doesn't. The resident racist is just jumping to conclusions.

Did everyone miss this part:

"All nine people were riding in a four-door sedan when the accident
occurred at 2:20 a.m., said Oswego Police Detective Rob Sherwood. The
speed limit in that area of Route 31 is 45 mph. "

NINE people in a 4 door?

You missed this from the paragraph right before it:

>Eight of the nine victims attended Oswego High School.

These were *high school kids* - they overload cars all the time,
usually because only one person in the group actually has a car. I
still remember the days when like 8 of us would pile into my friend's
1973 Camaro and drive over to McDonald's for lunch. Yeah, it was
pretty uncomfortable sitting on each others' laps and stuff, but the
ride was a short one (the McDonald's was only 2 blocks away from the
high school).

Now, if all 8 people in the car were Velasquez' relatives, then you
would have a much stronger case.

It would have been more comfortable to walk two blocks.

Hey, if you're making it up, you may as well make it ALL up.  Start
with irrelevant facts and careen down you own little deluded alleyway
into yet another scathing attack that has left Laura Bush in tears
these last few years ...

I guess you mean I gotta go too.  Never mind that fact that the
Kriegers have been in the US since the 1830s ...

You are not too worldly, are you?  Did you mean Vasquez or Vasques or
Vazquez?  Is Gonsales the same as Gonzalez or Gonsalez?

Think before you reply.
