Dad attacks driver who killed baby
By Debra Barayuga
dbarayuga@starbulletin.com

The father of a 10-month-old baby killed in a drunken-driving crash
attacked the man convicted of the crime as he was about to be sentenced
in Circuit Court yesterday.

Ceriaco Kasoga, 56, was knocked unconscious briefly just down the hall
from Circuit Judge Richard Pollack's courtroom, his attorney confirmed.
Kasoga was taken to Kaiser Medical Center in stable condition and his
sentencing for negligent homicide was postponed to April 17.

The baby's father was arrested for the alleged assault.

Deputy public defender Darcia Forrester said she and her client were
walking to Pollack's courtroom for the 8:45 a.m. sentencing when the
father of car crash victim, Saydee Miller, attacked Kasoga by punching
him in the face, which knocked him to the ground.

The father, who is in his 20s, kicked Kasoga before family members pulled
him off, she said. It happened "extremely quickly," Forrester said.

She said her client was prepared to be sentenced and to be taken into
custody yesterday.

"It's highly unfortunate," Forrester said, noting that her client is not
sure he wants to press charges against the girl's father. "He's very
cognizant of their pain."

Kasoga has done everything in his power to express his sorrow to the
girl's family and did not want to take the case to trial, she said.

Forrester was expected to argue for a deferral of Kasoga's guilty plea
but was prepared for a sentence that included probation with some jail
time.

The deputy prosecutor handling the case could not be reached for comment.

Kasoga pleaded guilty to causing the death of Saydee Miller, a passenger
in another car, while he was driving intoxicated near Waimea Bay on Sept.
21, 2005.

I don't blame the father since he knows the killer is just gonna get a
wrist slap. The article says the killer will likely get probation with
some jail time. He should be locked up forever but the booze industry has
bought off the legislators and so we have these murdering drunk drivers
get off with a year or less.

Oh, how nice.  How compassionate.  How altruistic.  (unselfish regard for or
devotion to the welfare of others)

Cognizant:  knowledgeable of something especially through personal
experience.

He was knowledgeable ot the pain of the family through his OWN personal
experience?  How could he do that if he hadn't experienced the drunk driving
revolving door before?

Seems like he should have been thinking of that before he cranked the
ignition.

It's too bad that killing some people is against the law.

I apologize.  I misstated my point.  It should have read:

When dealing with drunk drivers, it's too bad that killing some people is
against the law.

No doubt, though getting the message to the DUI in question would
certainly be worth the incarceration risk.  Right, AJ?

Well, as much as legally it's wrong, morally I can't blame the Father
one bit.

Personally, if I knew I had taken an innocent person's life from
something like DUI, it would ruin my life regardless of any penalties.

You just gave me a great idea.  I'm turning your posting habits into a
drinking game.  Its one shot for every time you mention "criminal
coddlers," "speeding" or "drunk drivers."  Two shots any time you
mention jews.

Looks like I finally found a way to enjoy what you write.

If by "enjoy" you mean "end up semi-comatose and drooling on yourself
then spending the next day clutching your gut, chugging pitchers of
water and Excedrin while sh.tting fiery gruel" I suppose so.

[trollbait]

or have you been enrolling in the Ted Kennedy liver conditioning program?

You're obviously not a professional drinker.  You'll never know what
you're missing out on.  :-)

hangover management begins long before you ever start drinking - that's
all I have to say at this time.

Add another shot for everytime she mentions "beaners" and another for
everytime she ignores replies about Chappaquiddick.  Make it a double
shot if she replies and defends Kennedy.

Drunk drivers are agents of HELL and are doing what GOD commanded them to
do!
Souls that could not withstand earthly life should be recalled!
