Mexican kills 3 people by his drunk driving and then evades the cops for
10 years and when he is convicted, 60 people including family of the
victims,  show up to beg for leniency and that's what he gets!!  This is
how mexicans are. To them highway homicide is always just an accident.

Driver in fatal car crash gets 3 1/2 years
Friends and family of 3 killed in accident ask for leniency

More than 60 people packed a Seattle courtroom Friday to ask for
leniency for Edilberto Martinez-Cardenas, the man who in 1993 killed
three friends in a drunken driving crash.

He was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison -- less than he could have
received. A jury convicted Martinez-Cardenas last month of three counts
of vehicular homicide.

Although Martinez-Cardenas kept a high profile in Seattle's Latino
community, he managed to avoid police for more than a decade after he
had been charged.

Those in the courtroom crowd -- including friends and family of the
three dead men -- spoke of a different man, one who had found religion
and responsibility.

Speaking to Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell, Victoria Figueroa
said she has no ill will toward Martinez-Cardenas for causing her
father's death.

Instead of retribution, Figueroa asked Ramsdell for compassion.
