Hi,

I noticed that in front of some supermarkets, there is a yellow
crosshatched pattern along the red curb, with a width of about 3 ft.
What does it mean? "Do not block" or "Do not pass through"? What is
its official name? Thanks!

Just a guess but I'm guessing that even though the curb is painted red
meaning NO PARKING FIRE LANE that many people don't seem to get the
point so they are hoping the yellow stuff will make them not park
there.

It seems a reasonable explanation to me. So this is not an official
traffic sign and anybody can drive through it.

It varies from place to place but anyone can paint anything they want
on private property usually.  About the only thing that counts is
signs and red paint for fire lane.
