To catch some guy fleeing on foot.

Notice the steam/smoke rising from the engine compartment of the cruiser
as he leaves it idling. He smashed it badly enough to fold the front edge
of the driver's door.

I wonder if the suspect still had legs.

If you used your car like that against a cop you would be charged with
a felony of at the very least assault with a deadly weapon and
possibly attempted murder.  That cop should be in jail.

No kidding.  I'd like to read the follow up on that, see if the cop is
even charged.  More likely suspended WITH pay (i.e. extra free paid
vacation time) and then right back on the force.

Keep your eye on the Orange County Register http://www.ocregister.com
- that incident happened in Santa Ana a couple of weeks ago (I
originally saw it on the KTLA Morning News). They do occasionally
print follow-up stories.

We can see why they're always touted as "highly train professionals" -
especially when it comes to driving.

But of course, they'll spin this as "brilliant and creative thinking outside
the box by this officer".

Yep - OK for the cops to do this, but the Average Joe would be tossed in
jail for a LONG time if he pulled this stupid stunt.
