If you are stopped for speeding, did you know that you should NEVER surrender your licence at the roadside?

The officer will give you a chance to take it to a police station of your choice within seven days.  Surrendering your licence at the roadside is an admission of guilt.  Surrendering it at a police station later is just abiding by the law.

This is unlikely to prevent him from giving you a ticket, but you can tell the judge at a trial that you were not speeding and you checked the speedometer, you can have the officer confirm that in your cross examination of him. This will serve to make your case stronger.

They say it's better to be forewarned of what to say and do if you are caught speeding!

Don't speed and you shouldn't have to worry about it.

You aren't agreeing with Aunt Judy, are you?  ;)  Don't worry, I
caught Scott in the same trend yesterday.

The OP does sound like SPAM.

I don't have a problem with speed limits in concept, its the
application of speed limits that I disagree with - particularly how
they are set and the way that some juristictions use them for revenue
as opposed to safety. That last one is why I sound a little like AJ
when I say put speeders in jail instead of using fines that give
juristictions an incentive to set speed limits improperly and enforce
them like a rabid dog.

That makes sense. If it's an infraction that's considered serious,
let's incarcerate people. Make the gubment actually have to *work* for
their money, and most likely they'll get engineers involve who will do
things properly.

Quick route to jail.  Refuse to hand him your license when he asks for
it will result in "refusal to obey officer", "obstruction", or similar
charge.

Requesting your license, registration and insurance is standard
practice.

I don't need to go to the cite if that is quality of advice given.
