Bringing regular updates back to MTR, RAD

Carl Rogers - 07 Nov 2007 07:56 GMT
Hi All,

After a month of contemplation, I've made the decision to return
regular MTR and RAD updates on the Worldwide Highway Library.  My
life, my rules.  Though there's been a good amount of ad-hominem
against myself, anyone who knows me well enough understands that I'm
genuinely into road travel and photography.  That's the drive that
brings me back to MTR and RAD to contribute, despite the recent
troubles.  The Library will continue to grow, and I will continue to
contribute and inform Usenet.  The second you let others try to tell
you who you are--that's a red flag of who they are.  I like to be
productive in what I do, and that is the motivator.

For those who claim me a spammer, drama queen, dictator, local barber,
etc.--you'll say whatever suits your need.  It does not reflect
reality!  It reflects your ignorance and your inability to grow and
understand others.  I've weathered your challenges and I still stand.
You do not have my drive to succeed, and my willingness to dust off
the shoulders and perservere "threatens" you.  Too bad it does!  It's
quite sad.  I do see this group twisting and munging my words to fit
their agenda.  It'll have no effect moving forward.

Folks can and will make disparaging remarks against myself and others;
I can't avoid that due to the territorial nature of some
participants.  These remarks have happened and will happen again.
There's a sub-culture in MTR that simply do not care about the welfare
of others.  Just themselves.

Coming up is a new photo of a Kentucky State Route.  Stay tuned for
new videos and photos from Los Angeles and San Diego--the Worldwide
Highway Library delivers!

Many thanks to Eric Lozaga for helping give me the courage to continue
to do a hobby I love.  And that's roads!

If there's anything I convey to everyone, you simply cannot let others
pull you down--you need to keep rising and move forward and do what
brought you to the dance.  There will always be a facet of me that
loves roads, and I'll be happy to share it w/ you all when I'm
available to do it.  If you like what I do, then you do.  If you
don't, then you don't.

Beyond good and bad,

Carl Rogers

We don't need the contribution to global warming that a release of that
volume of hot air would entail.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Eric is currently unemployed. His web design business is an utter
failure. He finally got kicked out of his apartment in San Diego.
Carl, kind-hearted soul that he is, took Eric in out of the cold and
gave him a place to stay.

Heartwarming, innit?

And now they're USENET's latest Troll Tag Team. I guess you can only
watch so much Oprah and Maury while you're sitting around the
apartment all day.

I was thinking the same thing, Rich, as I was scanning this thread.
My RAD experience has led me to call one of those court shows (which
is on a local station right before the first news broadcast of the
evening) "Aunt" Judy.

While it would really be nice if Google Groups added a real killfile,
I'll have to test out http://holysmoke.org/ who has a killfile program/
BHO for IE that supposedly adds a killfile option.

I'll report back my experiences for anyone that would like to ignore
krl.

(I know I could pay for a provider, but I could also stop reading MTR,
and I'm not going to do that)

If it works you'll have to stay on your toes with Carl.  I now have 4 of
his ID's in my kill file.

Your 'rules', eh? Do you actually fantasise your in charge of
something here, or what? I don't care if yr here or there, but if
you're here and you act like an arse, don't expect not to hear about
it. Just like anyone else in a group of people, whether you like it or
not. You're allegedly a psychology student, yet you completely seem to
be clueless on the concept of group dynamics, and how to exploit those
in a way that favours your cause.

Apparently Carl is not skilled enough in psychology to actually get a
job in the field. According to his MySpace page, he works for a
company called Ironport Systems - somehow I don't think a computer
security company has very many psychologists on their staff.

My guess is he's a tech-support weenie, or maybe he does some web
design work for them. Has anyone seen any "magic resizing windows" on
the Ironport web site? :)

Carl...I don't think anyone disputes that fact.  The problem is
that you are genuinely into making an a.s of yourself.  Doing a
press release for a fake company over adding a single photo to
your website is the sign of a sickness, not a hobby.  And worse
yet, it wasn't even a photo you took yourself.

I'd welcome your postings if you could batch things up and keep
it to once every 90 days or so.  But if you follow the past
behavior of spamming the group with single photo updates, then
I'll have to keep putting you in my kill file each time you
change screen names.

Dude, you have to assume the right attitude. Consider krlz prenumbral
emisions as surrealist comedy.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just had an epiphany and I
felt the need to expound. :)

To date your "contributions" have consisted entirely of SPAM for your
web site and personal attacks on various regular posters here.
However, when it comes to ordinary threads which you did not start and
which are not about you personally, we almost NEVER see your name in
the list of replies. Of the hundreds of posts you have made over the
last few years, the vast majority consist of announcements regarding
some change to your web site. I wonder why that is?

>Many thanks to Eric Lozaga for helping give me the courage to continue to
>do a hobby I love. If there's anything I convey to everyone, you simply
>cannot let others pull you down--you need to keep rising and move
>forward and do what brought you to the dance.

A fascinating manifesto. But if you look at it closely, it simply
makes no sense. How did your self-imposed exile from USENET interfere
with your practice of the roadgeek hobby?

Did your short-lived departure from USENET prevent you from:

* Making road trips?
* Taking photographs of highways?
* Reorganizing your web site?
* Making roadside video vignettes?

Clearly you could partake in *all* of that without ever setting foot
in a USENET newsgroup. So why is your continued presence in MTR so
absolutely vital to the practice of your hobby?

Just what is your REAL hobby, Cal-El? What, exactly, "brought you to
the dance?"

My theory is it is some combination of the following:

* Posting SPAM advertisements for your lame web site.
* Using retarded made-up terms like "viatologist" and "analog
hyperlink" for the express purpose of annoying people.
* Stirring the pot by having your roommate call everyone "fags."
Repeatedly. Even after you oh-so-sincerely promised you'd make him
stop.
* Sending bizarre emails to people, alternately full of pathetic
whining and unbelievable vitriol.
* Pumping up your soap-bubble-fragile little ego by counting site hits
and claiming that your site is better than "the competition" -
competition which exists only in your diseased mind.

Whatever your hobby is, it clearly is NOT roads. The road stuff, just
like the railroad stuff, is just a pretense. Your TRUE agenda is
something quite different.

And you aren't fooling anybody.
