Kentucky does not require motorists to install front plates, so many
sports fans have purchased novelty white-and-blue front plates issued
from the state of "Wildcats" that read IAM4UK. Meter maids from Colorado
to Maryland have written down this novelty plate number and used it to
issue parking citations that went to Burgess, even though the cars
allegedly responsible for the violations were clearly not fifty-year-old
classics. The city of Baltimore, for example, claims Burgess owes $4045
in tickets and late fees.

It's no telling.  Likely he didn't get any in Kansas City, due to
Kansas also being a one-plate state.

It does remind me of a guy I knew who had his car registered in
Johnson County, Kansas, and nearly ended up arrested in St. Louis for
no front plate.

Reminds me of the dumbass who thought it would be funny to get a
vanity plate that said "NO PLATE"  - you can guess what happened to
him. :)

How about 0O00O00 or some variation?  (unfortunately lowercase letters
aren't allowed, or something like 0lO1l01O would be even more fun)

There's no such thing as a free lunch, but certain accounting practices can
 result in a fully-depreciated one.

Back in the early 80s IL disallowed the letter O from plates. They sent
out new plates to everyone that had an 'O' in there's.  I think that fell by
the wayside since.

I'm lost here; I do not see the significance, and I'm curious.

mixing O's and zeros to make a ticket hard to write :)

Ooh! I like it!

Unfortunately, as a developer, I was trying to make some sense out of
some bizarre binary conversion. :-)

0lO1l01O, if all numerals, as a binary code converts to 90 in decimal
format...a nice fast speed.

Hmm. Perhaps I should select the hexadecimal equivalent of my initials
for a vanity tag? At least the vehicle, and the signature at the
beginning of my "internal" file formats would be consistent. :-)

The idea being that the cop would have a hard time getting the plate
number right.

Now I understand. But as a software developer, those 1 & 0 characters
force me to look toward binary values first. :-/

Reminds me of a few years ago of some guy in Iowa with the vanity
plate "STOLEN."  It just happened to be his last name, but I'd bet on
a lot of citiations.
