Here's a cab ride I'd like to go on!

Michael Schumacher continues to show he has lost none of his racing
instincts after turning taxi driver to catch a flight home.

The retired ace along with his wife and two children were running late
to make a plane at an airport near Coburg in Bavaria after flying in
to pick up a new puppy.

So the seven-time world champion took matters into his own legendary
hands and swapped seats with the taxi driver to make up the time.

"I found myself a passenger, which was strange enough, but having
'Schumi' behind the wheel was incredible," taxi driver Tuncer Yilmaz
was quoted as saying.

"He drove at full throttle around the corners and overtook in some
unbelievable places."

Unsurprisingly Schumacher, famed for his comeback drives during his
unparalleled F1 career, made up the ground on the 30km (19 mile)
return trip and duly caught his return flight home to Switzerland.

And despite doing most of the driving himself, the 38-year-old still
gave the cabbie a 100 euro (£75) tip.

The dash was no doubt good practice for Schumacher before he competes
in the Race of Champions at Wembley this weekend...

Sounds like wreckless driving to me.

It certainly was wreckless, he got to the airport safely without so much
as scratching the paint.

Indeed - had he wrecked the car the story would have read quite
differently, I'm sure.  Generally speaking, I don't like to be a
passenger, and am just about never a passenger in my own vehicle.
However, I'd consider it an honor and golden opportunity to hand the
wheel off to someone like Schumacher.
