(12-12) 09:35 PST OAKLAND - A 42-year-old Oakland man died after he lost
control of his car during a street race Tuesday night and slammed into
another vehicle, police said today.

Lawrence Andrada died at the scene, authorities said. The driver of the
car he hit, a 57-year-old Hayward man who was not involved in the race,
was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Witnesses told investigators that Andrada's 2005 Nissan was racing with
another car west on the 7100 block of Doolittle Drive, near Oakland
International Airport, when it lost control at 9:35 p.m. The Nissan
skidded to the left side of the road and hit the 57-year-old's 2007
Hyundai head-on.
