Whilst not against the general principle that even proceeding through a
green light is no reason not to pay attention to potential hazards .... ARE
YOU SERIOUS ?

Tell me, does the term "defensive driving" mean anything to you? Don't
they teach things like "always leave yourself an out" in British
driving schools?

Agreed. The car driver, inattentive though he was, still managed to
see what was happening and take SOME evasive action; you can see the
nose dive as he applies the brakes, and his wheels turn slightly to
the left just before impact (which sends him into the concrete
median). By contrast, the idiot on the scooter just sails blithely on
through the intersection, never wavering from his course, never
braking... And never knowing what hit him.

Yep. That whole, "situational awareness," thingy. Whoda thunk it.... ;)
It probablly kept me out of a bad situation last night driving home from
the game when as I was approaching a green light (on US17 Northbound at
the junction with GA40), I noted a car approaching from the right that
appeared wasn't going to stop for his red light. A quick blast from the
horn got his attention, though. I guess I could have done like Graham
apparently expects us to do and just entered the intersection like a
lemming to the edge of the cliff let the other guy hit me, but inspite
of my car being a f**d, I still like it and want to keep it going for a
few more years..... :)

There's NO WAY you can make that conclusion from the 1/4 second the
scooter driver is on that video, especially from that angle.
Not only that, the terrible design of this road with freakin' hedges
in the median (and possibly on each side of the road) may make it
difficult to see cross traffic.
