Driving is (apparently) a contact sport...

Driving home from work Friday I'm in the right lane on an overpass as
the left lane ends. Next to me is a black car making no effort to change
lanes. Now, I hate people who don't plan their driving and don't use
their turn signals, so I make no effort to create a gap for the
(presumably) female driver. Had she used her turn signal I would have
let her in, but no... Anyway, she gets closer and closer, and then
contact. My bumper is about level with her front door, and I see how her
vehicle rocks to the left. I decide it's better for all parts if I back
off, so I lay on the horn and swerve right and get behind her. No
reaction what-so-ever, don't even think she realized what happened. We
enter the freeway and she immediately get in the middle lane, despite
the right being clear, with me right behind trying to read her license
plate without luck. Giving up, and hoping she got a nice dent in her
door, I exit the freeway and continue my way home. Not sure if she
learned anything from this, but I sure appreciate driving old vehicles
where I don't have to worry about a few scratches.

On a happy note, yesterday I drove out to get a Christmas tree and I
must say; With the (studded) winter wheels on the Jeep it's much quieter
and stable on the road. No problem driving 75 mph and having a normal
conversation. The only annoying thing that happened was that I broke the
left rear turn signal lens while standing on the bumper to secure the
four trees to the roof. Not biggie though, I'll just get an amber bulb
and it'll be as good as new...

Merry Christmas!

That's a happy looking jeep you've got there. More mud, and it would
have been ecstatic. :-)

I knew there was something right about Ulf.  My favorite comment as a
Jeep owner is that the mud pattern tends to vary.

I've actually never washed it. I have hosed it off once, and that was
before the safety inspection. Despite this he still said "what did I do
to deserve this", and "no way I'm passing this thing" when going through
it. Apparently, there was still a fair amount of mud left that I didn't
get off, not to mention underneath... :-)

(There was mud on the asphalt for weeks after...)

By the tag I see why you decided to fix the tail lamp lens the way you
described.... I just thought to myself.... just go to to the u-pull, it's
not like it's hard to find the same basic lens jeep has been using since
the late 70s....  ;)

Yeah. Having looked at it again I've decided to try and glue it back
together, otherwise the turn signal will probably stop working
completely from all the water and dirt able to enter. If that doesn't
work Gore was nice enough to invent the Internet, and Bush likes to keep
the dollar low, so buying one online is always an option...
