I agree with your point there. The excessive bannering sometimes can be
a little confusing. In a couple of months or so, I'll do a short
photoset on the other signed GA25-Spur in the area (running from IH95's
Exit 14 to Woodbine).

It wouldn't surprise me to see that happen (the freeway upgrade) in the
next decade or so. Especially if the oft discussed 2nd causeway to St.
Simons Island ever comes to be.

I would tend to agree, except that if you asked many of the locals where
US25 is, they would probablly have no idea what you were referring to.
The multiplexed part of US341/25 is almost universally referred to as
US341; even its street names - Newcastle St/Norwich St. Extension (south
of GA303) and New Jesup Highway (north of GA303) - are rarely used
locally. Even on the street signs, 341 will take precidence like in this

Sweet! My number for that road: GA 398. I am planning to do my own
GA 25 page sometime in the future. I have an incomplete US 25 page
right now.
I'm sure that will be a toll road LOL. Is St. Simons that severely
crowded now or is that just to bring growth? Also, off the subject,
is that old completely unmodified from the 80's Del Taco still there
(or did they update it)? It's nice to see GDOT was forward thinking
with 25 Spur (except the number). It should already be I-95 Business
Spur.

You can really tell that someone is from out of the area with the
kooky way that every road is dualized. Being from Georgia, I knew
very well that the road was "US 341" simply because it's a fatter
number that is exclusive to the state. US 25 is too superficial and
national when there's a more personal "US 341"...and remember it has
"41" in it...a rule of thumb in Georgia. If you have two US routes
and one is "x41", rest assured you should ignore the other. If GA 121
became US 121 (good idea considering it is in three states), you
wouldn't even need to have US 25 in Georgia, and quite frankly it
should die just like worthless US 23 and, unfortunately considering
the cool number, US 76. Most US routes in North GA tend to be trumped
by their respective state overlap. GA 316, 400 and 365 are classic.
If you say "US 29" they will direct you to Old US 29, "US 19" they
will have no earthly clue and "US 23" and nowhere in the entire state
will they know what you are talking about except along OLD US 23
between Cornelia and Baldwin. US 123...not much point in it even
being there.
Don't forget GA 42 and 87...the overlaps of US 23 that are even signed
on street name signs as simply "Highway 42" and "Highway 87". Either
Georgia should kill the state overlaps, kill most of the US routes or
both to make this state work. And the banner routes...while they're
useful in some situations they are completely out of hand. I deal
regularly with "Old Highway 5", "Business 5", "Connector 5" and "Spur
5" where I have to selectively choose between route numbers or local
names. Giving directions is very difficult. And guess which road
everybody calls "Highway 5"? Clue: it hasn't been GA 5 in over 20
years.

SSI is getting rather crowded. If you haven't been there in a few years,
you wouldn't recognise parts of it now. The Village area is pretty much
the same, but get away from there and the Island has seen explosive
growth the last few years. Most of the talk of the 2nd causeway comes
during hurricane season and about how to get all those people off the
island in an evacuation. The last I had heard of it, they were talking
of running the new causeway from Fourth St (just south of GA25-Spur and
US17) to Sea Island Road where that curve to the east is. Why they can't
just run it from the end of GA25-Spur to Sea Island Rd, upgrade The Spur
to Interstate standards and designate it IH395 is beyond me.

I'll have to check and see next time I'm over there. I'll try to get a
few pics also. Frederica Road I think would make for a nice photo set -
especially north of the airport area where there are a couple of
roundabouts on the road.
