New video from necromancer Films: US17 crossing the Sidney Lanier Bridge
in Glynn County, GA.

I got the tripod working for this film and I also acquired a black towel
for the dash - though I should have covered the defroster vent also (!).
Also had an issue with lateral stability of the tripod-camera assembly
when I made the turn from US17 to the Jekyll Island Causeway (nothing
that a little duct tape couldn't cure). I shot about an hour total
driving time on this Sunday Drive, so I'll have some more videos comming
in the next few days.
Enjoy.

Roads and bridge by GADoT! =D
Overall, great stuff! Good quality video, and nice soundtrack for a
relaxing drive.
My only recommendation would be to use a color other than red for the
titles - many video codecs store red information at a lower resolution
that the green & blue components. I don't know whether this is the
codec YouTube uses, or the format your video was compressed in when
uploaded there, but the titles came out a bit crunchy, and some were
rather hard to read.

Thanks. The titles have been rather problematic for me (its a limitation
of WMM, I think). WHat I would like is to beable to control where the
title appears in the frame (such as at the top of the frame) and also to
put a background strip in a contrasting color behind the text - similar
to what FreewayJim does. Guess I'll just have to keep looking for a
video editor that has a little more to it than WMM...

Can't help ya with a background strip - but perhaps a few carriage
returns (with a blank space if necessary) before/after your text could
help you place it vertically? Or does WMM NERR atcha when you try to
use such tricks?
As far as other video editors go, I've used VirtualDub for a long
time. It's simple & basic but easy. No native support for adding
titles, but it does 3rd-party plugins; some of those may support it.

Then there's AVIDemux. Another free one. I've never used it myself,
but hey, it's free, right? I have no knowledge of titles or anything
else with it - just that it exists.

Nice job. I was down there in October, dropped wifey and the kids off
at a bridal shower in SSI and did some 'bridge-hunting'.

<AJ_mode_> If you wouldn't take the corners like URAPSYCHOPATH, you
wouldn't have the camera stability problems. </AJ_mode> :^)
Nice clip. If you had been driving in MO instead of GA, your cam
would shake like the cheerleaders at today's NFC playoff game. The
bridge looks like a fine engineering specimen.

I've driven over the Sidney Lanier Bridge myself about 4 years ago,
and yes, it is one of the most beautiful structures in Georgia IMHO.
The video was great and it makes me want to go back and drive it for
"ROADGEEK-CAM!!!".
Thanks for sharing this with us, necromancer.

The vent reflection was nothing compared to the lens flare. :)
Did you happen to film the return trip? That bridge would be much
easier to see with the sun behind you...

Not this time, but I'll do another video in the future on it.

Very nice! I really liked the music too.
You gotta cover the whole dash with that black towel, I try to tuck it
as close as I can to the glass and get it as flat as possible.
Also, the text was good and informative although if possible you might
want to place it near the top of the screen as it would have shown up
better on top of the deep blue sky and would have been much easier to
read, there is just so much going on in the middle of the screen with
the road and all.

Unfortunately, that's one of the limitations of WMM (atleast the version
that comes std. with windoze). I'm still trying to fond a video editor
that's reasonablly priced and will work well with my system....

Ah, I was not sure what program you were using. Keep working at it,
your video was better than 90% of the other highway videos I've seen
on YouTube.
