C@lr0g likes to refer to "U.S. Federal Routes."  Well, as near as we at
Shields Up can tell, there is no such creature as a U.S. Federal Route.
However, just in case such a thing exists, we would like to offer shields
for it.

So, we ask the readers of mtr and rad to design one.

Welcome to the Road Geek Iron Photoshop Chef contest!

The requirements are that it must come in one size (500x500 pixels), in GIF
format, and that it use only MUTCD-approved colors and fonts.   Please EMAIL
your entries to drk@kendrick.org with the words IRON PHOTOSHOP in the
subject line.

The winning shield will be added to Shields Up as a new "US Federal Route"
sign and you get full credit for your submission.  Deadline for submission
is Friday, February 8, 2008 at noon Eastern time.  Submissions will be
judged on creativity, originality, quality, and use of the theme ingredient.

Now... if we are all ready.... AAAAALLLEEEEEZZZZZZ CUISINE!!!!!!!!!

There are what are called "direct federal highways", they are
typically roads on federal land such as Forest Service Roads and Park
Service Roads.  I don't think there is a shield as such, they may use
a shield for the agency whose land they are on such as the Forest
Service Shield for "Forest Highway 20".
