Chocolate tanker crashes on Skyway

February 6, 2008
FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

At least three people were injured after a tanker lost control and
crashed on the inbound Skyway Wednesday morning, leaving several lanes
closed and cars trapped between the crash site and closed lanes.

Fire officials were called about 8:30 a.m. after a truck was involved in
a crash on the Skyway Bridge (I-90) near 7100 South Chicago Ave.,
according to Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight.

A tanker truck carrying chocolate lost control in the inbound lanes about
near 72nd Street struck the median wall, separating from the trailer. The
trailer continued across the outbound lanes striking at least one vehicle
and crashing through the guardrail, where it is currently hanging over a
long embankment at 72nd Street, according to Fire Media Affairs Director
Larry Langford.

The pictures I saw on WGN TV were frmo a different angle, and showed
the big rig tilted over to the left about 45 degrees, resting on top
of a smaller truck and wedged underneath an overpass. The picture in
the Tribune appears to have been taken later, after they had started
removing the crashed vehicles.

good you already found it... heard that one on the radio tonight and was
going to look for pictures.... hitting that overpass is simply an
astounding act of gpstroll driving school art...

At least he didn't break it, like the one trucker did to the 115th street
bridge over the calumet.
