The highway speeders like to spread this KRETP (Keep Right Except To Pass) nonsense only because it makes it easier for them violate the speed limit laws and thereby endanger others. If you want to make the highways safer for all of us including yourself, get in the left lane and do exactly the speed limit. Force the deadly speeders to obey the laws. My complaint about speed limits is that nearly no one goes even close to the speed limit...it's always either 10-15 under or 10-15 over. Either way it's a hazard. The other complaint about it is that it keeps the eyes on the speedometer rather than the road, making the speedometer a huge driving distraction. The only way to truly make our highways safe is to make *all* drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians GTFOTH (get the f. off the highway). Not realistic, is it? I agree that slow LLBing would be a problem - if it existed. But i never see that. Most LLbs are doing above the limit at least a little. In my perfect world, it would not only be open season for shooting LLB's, it would be mandatory to run them off the road (with the LLB liable for all damages) - with a, "good citizen," award," given if the LLB dies.
