car video cam

I'm interested in finding an affordable car video cam
like the police have in their cars now. Just video (I
think video and sound both may not be legal). One that
is stand alone (no computer required in the car), and can
overwrite after some number of hours (30 minutes?).
So when people crash into me, I have a visual record
of how it happened. I'd think there would be a big
market for such a device now. One facing forward, and
one facing backward ideally.

Any suggestions, or suggestions on where to look?

Thanks.

Best to have sound if you're pulled over.

Police type systems are VERY expensive, expect to pay a couple grand.

I've been using:
RCA small wonder EZ201
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P6J77G/ref=dp_cp_ob_title_0

It's worked ok. cheap little camera I don't have to worry about.

Scott found this the other day:

I may get this: (I have no clue about the vendor though)
http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/car-camera.html

Because I am getting annoyed with my home made mounting system for the
little wonder. The thing is I don't want to stick anything to the dash or
leave a camera visible when the car is parked.
