Do removable political bumper stickers exist?

I would like to place a political bumer sticker (regarding illegal
immigration) on my car's bumper (or somewhere on the back of the car)
but don't feel comfortable about leaving it on the vehicle when it's
parked and I'm not able to watch it.

I wish my concerns would be chalked up to "silly paranoia" but the
reality is that in the past couple of years I've read a few news
reports about American drivers who'd attached pro-"Minuteman" and
other anti-illegal immigration related bumper stickers to their
vehicles actually being assaulted by violent illegals due to the
bumper stickers.

What I'd like to do is have the bumper sticker on the car while
driving but be able to easily remove it while the car is parked.

I already bought a magnetic bumper sticker with this in mind awhile
back but was disappointed when it didn't adhere to the back of the
car's metal trunk as I'd hoped (anyone know why that was,
incidentally?)

Any suggestions on how to go about tempoirarily, but securely,
attaching a bumper sticker to a car's plastic bumper (or even the
metalic back of the car, such as the trunk)?

I would tend to dis-believe the tales of destruction. It is quite
likely that some who claim to have had this happen might be telling
porkies to add more fuel to the flames. (I'm not the type to waste my
time on such a silly subject at that one.)
Regarding your problem (the bumper sticker) you might attach it to a
plastic right-angle piece* that can be clamped betweeb uout drcklid
and the piece holding it - gripped by the rubber gasket, as it were.

I wouldn't be so sure.  People react differently when presented with a
different opinion that they strongly disagree with.  I recall years
ago someone had a car with a sticker that had a picture of a bicycle,
and under the picture was the phrase "stay the f*** out of the
road!".  I seem to have a vague recollection (of course far too vague
to remember any names)  of a group of kids on BMX bikes coming across
that car.  A 40lb BMX bike with large, steel pegs can do an amazing
about of damage to a car in a very short period of time.  I wonder if
the cars owner ever connected the vandalism to his sticker?

Anyway, I think it was George Carlin who said "If you feel your
political views are so important they need to be plastered all over
your car in bumper stickers, you're probably an a**hole".  I'm sure I
botched the quote, but the idea remains intact.

Sounds like a great way to get a U-lock in your side window...

for having a BUMPER STICKER on their car, voicing their OPINIONS,that you
happen to disagree with?

typical harassment over someone else's free speech rights.

Not saying that MLOM would do that, but there are people out there who
just might....

There was a day when I may not have been above such an act when the
sticker's intent is to promote the misconception bikes don't belong on
the road.  These days I'd be more likely to take my time writing a
note, using the vehicles window as a clipboard, and leave it there.
There would certainly be a part of me that hoped the vehicle's owner
would come out and "catch" me in the act so we could discuss our
differences of opinion.  If I were especially irritable, say on a ride
home where I'd already had to deal with hostile drivers, I might even
take the sticker from the vehicle or render it illegible.  Is that my
right?  No.  So sue me.

Sounds like you're catching on, assuming the 2" indendation you refer
to is round.  BTW, I think (certainly wouldn't bet) they're 2.5" dia.
I'll check in the AM when I'm by my 20".

Sounds like a coward's approach to expressing an opinion. If you don't
feel strongly enough to voice your opinion that you only want to do it
when you can get away fast, then don't do it. Bumper stickers are silly
anyway. If the issue of immigration really bothers you, launch a letter
writing campaign to your elected officials in Washington. We are in an
election year, so our politicians are extremely sensitive to what their
constituents thing.

Actually, what it sounds like is a troll.

So all of these assaults that you speak of only took place when the
car was parked and the owner wasn't around to watch it? How did the
violent illegals manage to track down the owner of the offensive car
in order to assault him?

I have AU-H2O on the bumper of my 40+year old car ad people like it.
BTW, Neither Barry or now dead Bill Buckley would like your sticker.

I didn't have any problems with the Ron Paul magnet I had on my car. IL
primary is over and the metal covering was starting to rust on the back
so I didn't put it back on when I washed my car last. I think it was made
for indoor use, not getting sprayed with road salt on the back of a RWD
car.

The problem is that things are different illegal immigration wise than
they were in the 60s. In the 60s illegal aliens were on their own and not
burden on everyone else. Today, they suck up a great deal of taxpayer
money to make up for the low wages. It makes a huge difference.

Ugh! Nothing like more visual pollution to make driving a little less
pleasant.

Sounds like a tall tale, but if people would exercise theire 2nd
Ammendment rights like they do their First Ammendment rights, these
illegals wouldn't be anywhere newr as bold....

More than likely, your car's trunk lid is made of Aluminum and not
Steel.

Affix the sticker to your vehicle and if you are so afraid of these
illegals, make sure that your friends Smith & Wesson go along for the
ride.

unfortunately,in most states, you cannot legally use lethal force to defend
your auto from vandalism, whether done by illegals or US citizens.

I disagree with that position.

Problem with that is that the vandalism would likely be done when he is not
around to catch them in the act.

That works if your life is threatened, and is a philosophy I fully
believe in.  However, unless you're in Texas, ringing Mr. Smith due to
vehicular vandalism can be more trouble than it's worth.
