What makes it even more amazing is that, in my guess, there was
probably a complete roadblock or at least some kind of significant
police presence there. I draw this conclusion because the video
seems to have been taken from another squad car (judging from the
black hood, what looks like the top of a push bar, and some kind of
dash-mounted object in the extreme foreground, and the fact that it's
parked pointing the wrong way in the middle of the road. Note also
the civilian-looking cars that are stopped on or just off the paved
shoulder/breakdown lane on either side.
Anyway, *something* was going on that one might think would be pretty
obvious and he just plowed right into it. Didn't look as though he
was taking any evasive action either.
There seems to be some kind of sign on the driver's door of the
pickup. Company vehicle?
Definitely a reminder that motor vehicle accidents are one of the
larger hazards that cops face in the line of duty...

Immediately after the crash a cop spinning lights seems to appear on
the overpass.
And, there's no other traffic except the pickup before or after the
crash.
If I had to determine responsibility for the crash I'd have to say it
was due to the underposted speed limit which lulled the driver to
sleep. ;)
