Raymundo Franco, 23, must serve at least five years without the chance of parole for the death of Brittney Dugas, 17, of St. Martinville. He must also pay $22,000 in restitution to the families of Dugas and Kylie Viator, 18, of New Iberia, as well as other damages to the family of Michelle LeBlanc, 18, also of New Iberia, who lost a leg in the crash. Franco had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 — more than three times the legal limit — when he ran a red light at the intersection of Congress Street and Bertrand Drive and smashed into Dugas’ car on Feb. 18, 2007. He was on probation for a previous DWI arrest at the time of the crash. (snip) ---------------------------------- I don't know if this guy was illegal or not but that's not the issue.
