KTLA reports that Americans droive 4% less in March, 2008 versus
March, 2007. That's the biggest drop since the 1940s, when gasoline
and tires were rationed during WW II. More people are riding public
transit, bicycles, and (gasp!) even walking. Many are dumping their
gas-guzzling SUVs and buying smaller cars. The result is that the
demand for gasoline fell 11% last week, and is down sharply since the
beginning of the year.

Naw, it means that people aren't going to the gym, the movies, to the mountains
with the RV, and generally dumping a lot of recreation.  Look for a depression
in the recreation industry as this nonsense worsens, as well as increased
health car for the fat people staying home from the gym.

Fortunately, it costs next to nothing to run my 650cc dual-sport bike.

But you could save so much more money, and the environment, with a 1980 Honda

Be interesting to see if the idiot american drives any slower.  I doubt it
since they've all been brainwashed by the auto industry into thinking fast
driving is cool even if the speeder kills some innocent person.
