I got this old van because the body and interior are great, and the
2.6L Mitsubishi engine seems tight and quiet.  This van doesn't have a
computer.
Right after I got it, I noticed it stalled after 2.2 kilometers (1.4
miles).  That was just enough time for the fellow I got it from to
disappear from the face of the earth, so I was stuck limping it home.
The problem is this.  I start the van and drive away.  After a short
drive, the engine dies, as though I had a weak, overheated coil. (it
doesn't).  The speed doesn't make a difference, whether it's 10 MPH or
60  MPH..  It will start again in about thirty seconds, but I find it
best to wait five minutes, in order to get another 1.4 miles out of it.
I've checked the coil twice, installed a new fuel pump, flushed the gas
lines and bought a used distributor, all to no avail.  I took off the
electrical connections to the carb and sprayed them with contact
cleaner.  I even removed the 'fuel shutoff solenoid' and plugged the
hole.  No difference. Right now, I'm looking for the engine speed
sensor, which, (so the book says) works with some other sensors to shut
the fuel off when coasting, etc.  I can't seem to identify it.
Actually, I don't have a clue where to look next.
It's good enough to get around the small town I live in, but I can't go
anywhere else.  Helllll-llllppp!!  Please.

You need figure out if the problem is due to not getting gas or not
getting spark. When it stops running is the time to test it. If it isn't
getting gas there is not much point in screwing up the electrical system
in an attempt to fix, And if it's not getting spark there isn't much
point in screwing up the carburetor in an attempt to fix it.
