My climate control system on 1994 Plymouth Concorde is possessed.  At times,
for no reason that I can figure out, all the lights on the climate control
console go out, the fan goes into High mode with full heat.  You can't turn
it off no matter what you do.  But give it time, sometimes a few minutes,
sometimes a few WEEKS and it shuts off and goes back to it's normal mode of
operation.

Can't be a fuse... eventually it starts working properly again.

I unplugged the climate control console - no change.  Thought about
bypassing the heater core, but the location where the hoses enter the
firewall is NOT user friendly.

though about pulling the fuse, but the manual says the same fuse controls
the ABS brakes.

I may change my mind this winter, but for now, how can I disable the heat?

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE. CHRYSLER WANTED $1000 TO FIX IT I JUST
BYPASSED THE HEATER CORE THEN CUT THE WIRE THAT OPENS THE OUTSIDE AIR
VENT. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND NEED THE AC. I SOL THE CAR LATER THAT YEAR
AS IT WAS A PICE OF CRAP FROM DAY ONE.

Common failure on these units is bad solder joints on the control asm.  You
might just try taking it apart and resoldering all the connections or at
least the ones that look bad.

Hi Steve.

The "control asm" you refer to is the dash mounted control panel?

thanks,
Kraig

Steve suggested that I look the circuit board over for bad solder joints.  I
could not locate any, but I did find an interesting item on the back of the
control assembly.  It appears to be a plug in relay, labeled AROMAT
CB1aF-12V-H11 then ACB32201M01.

It is a replaceable item.  Does anyone have experience with this?  If this
relay goes bad would I have these symptoms?

thanks,
Kraig Whiting
