Ok so I have a 2004 Ford Taurus that I bought used less than a year
ago.  I haven't had it checked out yet but just this week it started
leaking what I believe to be transmission fluid on my
driveway...Agghh...is this a common problem.  I have read some other
posts and it seems to be.  Please respond-should I trade it off before
it gets any worse?

I had a 1994 Taurus before this that I put a new transmission in and
then it totally died on me.  I don't want the same thing to happen
again.  I am still making car payments on the new one.

There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for the Taurus for leaking
trans fluid. It can be caused by a clogged transaxle vent. The TSB number
is 05-14-5. I believe it's covered under warranty if the car is still
covered (less than 36,000 miles).

What color is the fluid? Try dabbing at it with a while paper
towel...that will help you tell what color it is. Trans fluid should be
red or pink. Orange would be coolant. Black could be oil or power
steering fluid.
