I think i know the answer but worth asking if I am wrong.  Will a
tranmission from a 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis (assuming a 302 but not sure
yet) fit a 1970 Cougar with 351c (currently an FMX tranny).  I assume not
but for $100 it's worth asking.

Thanks, bobby

351C and 302W have the same bolt pattern. If GM has a 302, it will bolt
up, but you will have to fabricate linkages and have a new driveshaft
made. This tranny will NOT bolt up to the 351M that is quite often
mistaken for the 351C. (Your car should not have the 351M from the
factory) All linkages from the AOD tranny must be hooked up and working
or premature tranny faulure will result. I would not recommend this
swap for a first-timer without some knowledgeable help.
BTW, I have a bone stock '71 Cougar with a 351C and a C6. Not sure if
the AOD would last too long if stressed tested in my car.......

I'm the one selling the AOD tranny for $100; it did come off a
302 V8.
