Stripped threads/teeth on Honda Civic power window assembly?

My '96 Honda Civic HX has an automatic window problem that I've
created:
I have a little, solar-driven fan that fits in the window.  You use it
when the car is sitting for a period of time, by inserting it on top of

the window and then tightening the window to as high in the window
channel as the fan will allow.

Recently, I put the fan in and tightened the window without paying
attention; the top of the fan pushed out of the channel to the outside
of the window.  Since I wasn't paying attention, I cranked the window
for an extra half-second to second.

The result is this: now, I can lower the window without problems.  But,

when I try to raise it, it gets to the place where the fan pushed out
-- maybe an inch below the ceiling of the channel -- and won't go
further.  I can hear a rapid-fire clicking.  If I get out and hand-lift

the window for a half and inch (no motor), it'll catch and go the rest
of the way.

To me, it sounds like I stripped the teeth out of one small part of a
gear, or the threads out of one small part of a screw.  I want to go to

a junkyard tomorrow and get a replacement for whatever I've chewed up,
but I really don't know what it is that I'm looking for.  I've found
directions on line for taking the door off, but need to get an idea of
just what it is I'm trying to fix (and so, to find at the junkyard).

Any tips or information greatly appreciated -- thanks.

Yeah, yeah......AS SEEN ON TV.....We know!

I cannot hear it from here, so I don't know what it sounds like.....

Can you describe the actual sound?

Whirr-kachunk?

Ring-a-ting-ting-ting

Zirf-f-f-f---boing!

Otherwise, I'll have to take your word for it......

You think WE do without seeing it?

Don't take the door off.....just remove the door panel.

YOU were there when the incident occured - WE weren't!
YOU can hear what it is doing - WE cannot!
YOU can see where it is stopping - WE cannot!

You seem to be implying that someone at the other end of a computer
connection can, magically, "look" at whatever is damaged in your door and
tell you exactly what to purchase BEFORE you open up the door.

I guess this global warming thing MUST be real because it is wreaking havoc
with my abilities to channel myself into your Honda door and look at the
mechanisms within.

Perhaps you could arrange to ship the car to my shop in the Northeastern
U.S., where I could remove the door panel and give you a more accurate and
logical assessment?

Open the door panel up......

Operate the window mechanism up and down....

Look for something that is broken, stripped, etc.

Determine the name for that part.....

Go to a parts store or Honda dealer and purchase a replacement......If it
is indeed a weak point in the window mechanicm, a junkyard piece might be
ready to croak, putting you right back to square one after all the work
replacing it.

Remove the broken, stripped, etc. piece.......

Install the replacement piece....

Replace the door panel.....

Throw the "AS SEEN ON TV" POS solar cooling fan just as far as your
personal body type and physicel conditioning will allow you to.
