I have a 389 engine & hydramatic 3-speed transmission from my 1960
Pontiac.  I took it out & swapped it for another of the same.  Engine
still runs but would love to be rebuilt.  Trans has probably ground
gear.  Or any ideas of who could take this off my hands??

You pick up in Austin,TX within the week!

I'd put an add in Hemmings, 389 engines are fairly rare.

Oh, Geez !!!!!!

Now you've done it !!!!!

This guy is going to believe that his engine is now worth its weight in
gold.

The 389 Pontiac MAY be rare in your own back yard, but I can put my hands
on a dozen or so within a week with, perhaps, three telephone calls.

Sell the engine for its scrap value........

OR

.........donate it to the local vocational school for a practice piece.

Somebody named "catalinagirl" is giving it away........

Wouldn't a staunch Pontiac fan want to keep such a rare piece?....if it
were, indeed, so rare, that is....

I suspect Catalinagirl has a pretty good handle on the true value of this
piece of cast iron.....

......and that you're just another self-annointed "expert" - a wannabe
posing as some sort of authority on Pontiac values......

a.shole, who do you think you are, plenty of classic Pontiac enthusiasts
would be interested in a decent 389, did you ever build a classic car from
the ground up and win awards with the it, if not fade out of this
knucklehead. I never said it was worth 10gs, unless the block is cracked or
it spun a bearing someone can use it!!!!

ROFLMAO !!!!!!

I build oval-track race cars and real street rods - not Tupperware Kit Cars
- for a living.........been doing it for more than 40 years.

......a.shole!

Have you been such a likeable human being for the same amount of time?
Beware everyone, Mr. * is not to be messed with. He's a legend in his
own mind. The list of stuff he doesn't do is nearly endless, yet he
seems to be an "expert" on any subject that comes up. I think he's
suffering from a case of terminal optical rectumitis.

You're just jealous because you HAVE TO deal with every slob that comes
down the pike or you'll be fired from your front counter position, and
moved back to the fryolater.

You'll never know how it feels to have so much work available that you are
able to pick and choose what you work on.

Took me a while to get there, but I would not go back.

As usual, you're degenrating into insults. And....you know NOTHING
about me.
That said, you're helping to make my point. The position you claim to
occupy is that of an exclusive specialist. You only build circle track
cars that turn left on friday nights or whatever it is. You don't work
on FDW "junk" (your term), you don't work on anything post 1990 or
whatever. When you narrow your focus like that, there's a lot about
cars you don't know, by default. Automotive technology is moving
forward at a rate that we've never seen the likes of. It takes
continuing education to keep up.
And before you start the junior high chestbeating "i'll put my 40 years
of experience up against yours anyday..." stuff, save it. I'm sure
there's a lot of things you know that I don't. I'm also sure I have
working knowledge of things you've never heard of. BFD.
Grow up a little, guy.
