Leaving Car lights on affecting Daytime Running Light module?

Hello

Does anyone know whether leaving one's car lights on affect the daytime
running light module? My mechanic left the lights on after servicing
the car and now the daytime running lights do not come on. He says the
daytime running light module needs to be replaced and that it is normal
"wear and tear". Is this true? Or is his carelessness to blame?

Thanks in advance

Most DRLs operate the high beam filament at a lower voltage, so I doubt if
leaving the low beams on affected your DRL module whatsoever.

Even if the high beams were left on, it is a different voltage source
through the headlight switch.

Is there usually a separate fuse for the Daytime Running Light module?
I have an '03 Corolla Sport. Is there some way I can independently
check the module to see why it isnt working? What are some other things
that can affect the functioning of the module?

Thanks in advance

If you weren't in Canada, I would just say to leave them off, as people
like it better when they don't have so many lights in their line of
sight. I understand you need them for regulations, but I wanted to put
in a good word for the rest of us that don't like them.

Cheers,

Larry
