nocking noise from inside of enginee

my brothers 95 eclipse w/turbo is making a ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta! noise
from the engine compartment anybody have a clue or some suggestions on
what it can be?

What you describe could be literally anything from a lifter ticking to a
rod busted and banging against the cylinder wall, or a screw in a tire,
or something wrong with the brakes, or something fell into just the
right position to be getting hit by the fan, or a bad spot in the
serpentine belt, or a failing water pump, or a bad bearing, or a busted
blade in the turbo, or... Well, just about any of a thousand other
possibilities.

Trying to diagnose a noise without being right there in person to listen
to it is going to be almost impossible, especially as vague as your
description is. Take it to a shop if you and/or your brother aren't
mechanically inclined. Chances of finding any help here that's actually
useful from such a vague symptom description are *EXTREMEMLY* slim -
Most of us are reasonably handy with a wrench, but we can't work
miracles based on "it goes "ta-ta-ta-ta-ta".
