Hi, I am not the best with cars so I am hear to ask questions. My cavalier has a hard time starting. When it starts for a brief moment the engine light will flash on and then i will hear a quick tick tick and then it starts up no problem. Idles fine, doesn't stall. No noises that I can hear. Any ideas what might be wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. The first thing I would do is check the computer with an OBDII tester. That quick tick tick you hear could be the starter solenoid. You battery could be bad, connections poor, or the starter about done, at least the solenoid part of it. Any of these problems very expensive? Mark Hey thanks for the advice, the car is fixed now. I guess when I went back in the work records of the car. I relized that the battery had not been replaced at all. I have only been the second owner of the car and they didn't do it. Just like the shop said they were pretty sure it was the original bar that was put in the car when it was assembled.
