Hi, I am not the best with cars so I am hear to ask questions. My
cavalier has a hard time starting. When it starts for a brief moment
the engine light will flash on and then i will hear a quick tick tick
and then it starts up no problem. Idles fine, doesn't stall. No noises
that I can hear. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The first thing I would do is check the computer with an OBDII tester.
Possible intermittent codes.

That quick tick tick you hear could be the starter solenoid. You
battery could be bad, connections poor, or the starter about done, at
least the solenoid part of it.
You could start by cleaning the battery connections and checking the
battery.

Hey thanks for the advice, the car is fixed now. I guess when I went
back in the work records of the car. I relized that the battery had not
been replaced at all. I have only been the second owner of the car and
they didn't do it. Just like the shop said they were pretty sure it was
the original bar that was put in the car when it was assembled.
New battery and away i went
the started tested fine
ignition system test fine
everything was tested good for starting the car

thanks for the info guys.
