Altima noise on accel/decel

Hi Folks,  I have a 99 Altima 5 speed with 108,000 km.  Recently I've
noticed there is a single click/clack when I accelerate or decelerate that
seems to be coming from the front right wheel.  I can get it to happen if I
alternately ease the car forwards and backwards in the driveway; each time I
change direction I'll get the sound.  It also happens occasionally when I
accelerate or decelerate while moving  if I get into or out of the power
abruptly.

Any thoughts on what this might be?

Just to follow up, I stopped in at the dealer today, and the tech was able
to identify the noise.  He got about 1/4-1/2 turn on the front right wheel
bearing nut and the noise is gone!

Good that your problem is solved. That nut isn't actually a bearing nut.
It holds the axle splines into the hub. Axle nuts should be very tight,
174-231 ftlbs.

Yeah, he tightened it to around 180 ft lbs or so.  Thanks for the pointer on
the terminology, the service manual calls it a wheel bearing locknut if I'm
looking at the right thing, but I did understand that it's what's holding
the axle within the hub.
