I have a 96 chevy S-10 p-up V6. one day I went to lunch and when I returned
and attempted to start the truck it started and immediately died. After a
couple of tries the vehicle did start and once running functioned normally.
since then the vehicle will no longer start at all.
I have removed the battery and taken it up to O'reilly's Auto parts to be
tested and they advised that it and the alternator (which I had also Removed)
was in good condition and functioning properly.
I Cleaned the battery cable connections with coca cola and reconnected
everything to now have the vehicle not even power on the lights in the dash
but moments prior to this the vehicle would light up as normal however when
the ignition was turned to "start" everything would die.....

What could be the problem??
Can anyone help???

Bad battery cable and/or connection. I would suggest washing off the
coke you used and getting a battery terminal cleaning
tool(autozone/napa/checker has what you need). Polish up the terminal
on the battery and the clamp connection on the cable and try it again.
What you are describing with the whole thing cutting out as soon as you
try to start leads me to believe you have a bad connection at the
battery.

Good luck with it.

You may want to load test the battery in a store, just to be sure you even
have a good one of those.
