Ford Fairmont 1997

Hi there.In the ford car speedo meter some time suddenly stop working
and it does not change the gears as well...some say its transmition
problem i dont know wat to do.????Any one can help please..

Sounds like a speed sensor problem (easily replaced in the side of the
transmission). But a 1997 Farimont? There wasn't any such animal that I am
aware of.
